This small town on the southwest coast of County Cork with an unusually strong café and restaurant scene for its size, Bantry sits at the head of the deep-water Bantry Bay, with the Beara and Sheep's Head peninsulas on either side. The town square — built partly over the old inner harbour — hosts a weekly market, and the location makes it a practical base for exploring all three of Cork's southwestern peninsulas.
