Žirovnica
Slovenia
A small village on the southern slopes of the Karawanks in northwestern Slovenia, Žirovnica sits where the Ljubljana Basin meets the Upper Sava Valley, with mountain scenery close at hand and UNESCO World Heritage sites in the wider region. The village has been documented since 1253 and was the birthplace of Slovenian philologist Matija Čop in 1797.
