Zelše
Slovenia
A modest Slovenian hamlet on the karst Cerknica Polje, Zelše sits at the edge of dramatic cave country: the Zelše Caves to the west are the source of Rak Creek, a sinking stream, while Big Karlovica Cave lies to the southwest. A Renaissance church of St. Volbenk stands on a low rise to the south, known for its exceptional acoustics and used for chamber concerts. The wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
