The Ottoman-era Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage site made famous by Ivo Andrić's novel The Bridge on the Drina, stands at the heart of this small Republika Srpska town where the Drina and Rzav rivers meet. A cultural site called Andrićgrad, dedicated to the Nobel Prize-winning author, sits near the bridge. Mountain terrain surrounds the town, and the central core has cafés and restaurants along the waterfront.
