This little Moravian town in the Vysočina Region whose historic centre — protected as an urban monument zone — is dominated by the fortified Church of St. John the Baptist. Originally a late-Romanesque structure, it was rebuilt in Gothic style in the 14th century and then enclosed within stone walls with a defensive tower in the 15th century, making it an unusual example of a fortified church in the region. The town sits in the eastern part of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, a short drive from Brno.
