Vauvert
Gard · France
This small wine-country town in the far south of France's Gard department, Vauvert sits within the Camargue delta and is drained by several waterways, including the Canal du Rhône à Sète. Wine production has shaped the local economy since at least the 19th century, when disease in the grape crop caused a sharp population decline. The commune includes the villages of Gallician and Montcalm, the latter home to a chapel listed as a historic monument, alongside a protected Protestant temple in the town itself.
