Val-David

Canada

This modest Laurentian Mountains village north of Montreal with a lively food scene, a reputation as an arts community, and serious outdoor credentials: Parc Dufresne is the most popular rock-climbing destination in eastern Canada, and the Parc Linéaire Le P'tit Train du Nord — a long multi-use trail — passes through town, offering cycling in summer and cross-country skiing in winter. Québécois poet Gaston Miron and jazz bassist Charlie Biddle are among the artists associated with Val-David.
