Urla

Izmir · Türkiye

Coastal town on the Aegean shore west of İzmir, Urla has a compact centre with a concentrated café and restaurant scene and easy access to the water. The district sits on the site of the ancient city of Klazomenai, whose remains draw visitors, and hosts an annual Artichoke Festival running since 2015. The town also claims two noted writers — the poet Giorgos Seferis and Necati Cumalı — among those it has produced.
