Saraqib
Syria
This town in northwestern Syria's Idlib Governorate sitting at the intersection of the M4 and M5 motorways, Saraqib serves as a strategic crossroads between Damascus, Aleppo, and Homs. The ancient site of Ebla lies just south of the town, and the wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites. The town is known for stone-built houses, traditional silk-and-gold dress called the qandura, and agriculture including olives, grain, and cotton. It changed hands multiple times during the Syrian Civil War.
