Armanaz, a town in northwestern Syria's Idlib Governorate near the Turkish border, is the only place in northern Syria with a tradition of artisan glass manufacturing, a craft it has practiced since ancient times. The town is also known for its olive groves, olive oil, and pottery. It sits on a plateau between two mountain ranges, overlooking fertile agricultural land, and the wider region holds Roman-era remains including underground aqueducts and historic quarters.
