Founded in 1819, Santo Domingo is a Cuban town in Villa Clara Province with a colonial architectural heritage — though much of that fabric is now in a state of structural decline. The surrounding area includes the Bosque Modelo, a protected forest reserve prioritised for the conservation of local flora and fauna.
