Alpine village in the Vallée du Giffre near the Swiss border, Samoëns holds a "ville fleurie" designation for the quality of its gardens and public greenery, and offers more cafés, restaurants, and historic churches than most settlements its size. In winter it connects by lift to the Grand Massif ski area, shared with Flaine and Morillon; in summer the surrounding mountain scenery draws visitors to the valley.
