Sitting beside the river Jaur in southern France's Hérault department, Saint-Pons-de-Thomières is a small cathedral village and the capital of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Park. The park encompasses two Natura 2000 cave sites — the Grotte de la Rivière Morte and the Grotte de la Source du Jaur — alongside several protected natural zones, making the surrounding countryside a draw for those interested in the region's geology and wildlife.
