Nord · France

A walkable town on the river Scarpe in northern France's Nord department, Saint-Amand-les-Eaux has a centre with a real café and restaurant scene and sits on what was historically the eastern boundary of French Flanders. The abbey founded here in the 630s by Saint Amand stood until 1789, giving the town its name and a long ecclesiastical history.
