A mountain district in eastern New Taipei City, Taiwan, Ruifang built its identity around coal mining before the industry's decline in the 1990s prompted a shift toward tourism centred on that mining heritage. The district borders the East China Sea to the north and sits within reach of water on multiple sides, with a café and restaurant scene that exceeds what its size might suggest.
