Parkent
Uzbekistan
This town in the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan, Parkent sits within sight of mountains and a short drive from water, with the wider region ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites. Settlements here date back to the 1st–2nd centuries BCE, and the town is mentioned in the Baburnama, the memoir of the Mughal emperor Babur. It gained official town status in 1984 and serves as the administrative centre of Parkent district.
