This pocket-sized Lithuanian town in the Venta Regional Park, Papilė sits alongside the river Venta in Šiauliai County and holds a memorial museum dedicated to the 19th-century historian and writer Simonas Daukantas, along with a bronze monument to him erected in 1930. The 1887 brick Church of St. Joseph of Papilė also stands in the town centre.
