Myingyan

This city in central Myanmar's Mandalay Division with a concentration of historic churches in its centre, Myingyan sits on the east bank of the Ayeyarwady River, with the extinct volcano Popa Hill rising to the south-east. The surrounding area is largely flat agricultural land given over to millet, sesame, cotton, and rice, and the city serves as a railway junction connecting the main Yangon–Mandalay line with the branch to Thazi.
