Italy Perugia

Montone

Perugia · Italy

This walled medieval hill village in Umbria, north of Perugia, sits at the high point of a ridge above the confluence of two Tiber tributaries, with scenic views across wine country in multiple directions. It was the origin of the Fortebracci condottieri family, whose most celebrated member was Braccio da Montone, and holds a cluster of historic churches alongside a compact but real café and restaurant scene for a village its size.
