Perched above the Marecchia valley on a dramatic rocky outcrop, San Leo is a tiny hilltop village in the Rimini province of Emilia-Romagna and the historic capital of the Montefeltro region. Its fortress, medieval churches, and scenic viewpoints over the surrounding landscape give this tiny settlement considerably more to explore than its size suggests, and it holds a place on Italy's official list of most beautiful villages.
