Tiny Portuguese town in the Leiria municipality known for its hot springs (Termas de Monte Real) and set in wine-growing country, with the added presence of a Portuguese Air Force base. Monte Real was a municipality in its own right from 1292 until the early 19th century, and the wider region holds several UNESCO World Heritage sites.
