Regarded as the wooden-toy capital of France, this Jura village is home to manufacturers Smoby and Vilac, a dedicated Toy Museum, and a vocational school specialising in woodcraft. Since 1990 it has hosted Idéklic, an international festival of performing arts and workshops for children and young people. The village sits between two plateaus of the Jura massif within the Haut-Jura regional nature park, with Lac de Vouglans — formed by a dam on the Ain river — bordering its western edge.
