Mezek

Bulgaria

Mezek, a village in southeastern Bulgaria near the Greek and Turkish borders, is known for two ancient Thracian beehive tombs and a well-preserved medieval fortress. The tombs — the Mezek and Sheynovets — sit at the foot of the eastern Rhodope Mountains, and the village also produces wine under the Mezzek label.
