A pocket-sized Bosnian town first recorded in 892, Livno sits on the river Bistrica at the foot of Cincar mountain, with vineyards in the surrounding area and an unusually dense café and restaurant scene for its size. Its old city retains ruins from the 9th century, and its position at a historic crossroads between the Adriatic coast and the inland regions of Bosnia, Dalmatia, Herzegovina, and Krajina gives it a layered past worth exploring on foot.
