A fishing port on the Catalan coast with a café and restaurant scene that would suit a town twice its size, l'Ametlla de Mar — also known as La Cala — sits in the Gulf of Sant Jordi between little coves and beaches of fine white sand and smooth pebbles. The port holds Catalonia's principal tuna-fishing fleet alongside a sailing club, and the wider Tarragona region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
