Lake Balaton-side village in the Balatonboglár wine region, Kötcse draws summer visitors with its mild climate and waterside setting. Since 2004, the Dobozy Chateau has hosted the Polgári Piknik, an annual gathering of Hungarian politicians, thinkers, scientists, and business figures organised by the Polgári Magyarországért Alapítvány. Many properties in the village serve as weekend houses rather than permanent residences.
