Kärdla
Estonia
The only town on Estonia's Hiiumaa island, Kärdla has a small central core with cafés and restaurants, set alongside the water. Three rivers — the Nuutri, Lumumba, and Kärdla — run through the town. In 2011 it was named Estonia's song capital by the TV3 television channel. Locals have historically been nicknamed "coffee flasks," a reference to workers carrying coffee to the island's factory — a habit that took hold here earlier than in surrounding villages.
