Kampong Trach

Cambodia

Compact district in Cambodia's Kampot Province on the Gulf of Thailand, Kampong Trach sits close to limestone hills containing caves with shrines venerated by Khmer, Chinese, and Vietnamese communities. Small wells at the base of the mountain are also considered sacred. The district borders Vietnam and contains the Prek Chak International Border Checkpoint, as well as the Anlong Pring Crane Reserve, an Important Bird Area established in 2011 where Sarus cranes shelter during the dry season.
