Jurkalne
Latvia
This pocket-sized Latvian village on the Baltic coast, Jūrkalne sits beside a beach backed by a steep bluff rising some twenty metres above the shoreline. The village was the birthplace of Abraham Zevi Idelsohn, the Jewish ethnologist and musicologist. A church and community hall serve the local parish, which falls within Ventspils Municipality on Latvia's western Kurzeme coast.
