Jaren, the administrative centre of Gran Municipality in Norway's Innlandet county, sits within reach of Randsfjorden — Norway's fourth-largest lake — and the surrounding highland terrain, making it a practical base for the wider Hadeland region. The Hadeland Folkemuseum lies just outside the village and includes the Old Tingelstad Church, a Romanesque medieval structure with a well-preserved Renaissance interior. Trains on the Gjøvikbanen line stop at Jaren Station, connecting the town to Oslo a short distance to the southeast.
