Ishan Abu Salabikh

Archaeological site in Al-Qādisiyyah Governorate marking the remains of a small Sumerian city occupied from the Neolithic through the late 3rd millennium BC, Abu Salabikh had cultural ties to Kish, Mari, and Ebla. Its ancient name remains unknown, though Eresh, Kesh, and Gišgi have been proposed by scholars. The city's decline came when the Euphrates shifted course, cutting off its primary lifeline. The site lies roughly southeast of Baghdad, northwest of ancient Nippur.
