Al Diwaniyah

Iraq

A city in south-central Iraq and the administrative capital of Al-Qādisiyyah Governorate, Al Diwaniyah has a walkable centre with a café and restaurant scene. The Euphrates passes through the city via a branch known as the Shatt al-Diwaniyah. Founded by the Khaza'il Dynasty, the city was originally known as Khuza'ah's Diwaniyah — meaning "guest house" — and sits roughly midway between Baghdad to the north and the southern governorates.
