Huaral
Peru
Founded in 1551 under a royal order as San Juan Bautista de Guaral, Huaral is a Peruvian agricultural town on the central coast, known locally as the "Agricultural Capital" and "Lima's Pantry" for the produce of its surrounding valleys. The walkable centre has a concentration of cafés, restaurants, and historic churches, and the town is also known for its local dish chancho al palo. Mountains rise nearby, and the Pacific coast is a short distance to the west.
