Graulhet

Tarn · France

A former leather-tanning centre in the Tarn department of southern France, Graulhet sits along the river Dadou and retains some historical buildings from its industrial past. The town is one of the last places in the Midi where Mesturets are made by traditional methods, and was the birthplace of Marthe Condat, who in the 20th century became the first woman to hold a professorship in medicine in France. UNESCO World Heritage sites lie within the wider region.
