Duiske Abbey, the largest of the thirty-four medieval Cistercian abbeys in Ireland, sits at the centre of this small County Kilkenny village on the River Barrow, at the foot of Brandon Hill. The Irish name — Gráig na Manach, "village of the monks" — reflects that heritage directly. For its size, Graiguenamanagh has a solid handful of cafés and restaurants, and the river setting adds to its appeal as a stopping point in the southeast.
