Gaeta
Latina · Italy
A seaside town on a promontory between Rome and Naples, Gaeta combines sandy beaches on its western coast with a layered military history — its walls date to Roman times and were extended in the 15th century during the era of the Kingdom of Naples. The old centre is walkable and thick with historic churches, and the town has held blue and green flag beach certifications for over a decade. NATO maintains a naval base here alongside the fishing port.
