Ellmau

This year-round resort village in the Wilder Kaiser mountains of Tyrol, Ellmau sits within the Ski Welt skiing area and offers hiking, mountain biking, and climbing in summer. The Hartkaiserbahn funicular — the only one of its type in the Ski Welt — carries visitors to the top of Hartkaiser mountain. First recorded in 1155, the village has gained wider recognition since 2008 as the central setting of the Austrian television series Der Bergdoktor.
