Dzaoudzi
Mayotte
Dzaoudzi sits on the small island of Petite-Terre in the French overseas department of Mayotte, in the Indian Ocean, and served as Mayotte's capital until 1977. The town shares its island with Labattoir, together forming a compact coastal commune with water on all sides and hilly terrain inland. A French Foreign Legion detachment has been based here since 1973, giving the town a distinct character alongside its island setting.
