Ciudad de la Costa
Uruguay
This coastal city on the Río de la Plata east of Montevideo, Ciudad de la Costa grew from a string of beach resorts established in the mid-20th century into one of Uruguay's most populous cities. The waterfront setting and proximity to the capital make it a practical base, with cafés and restaurants in its compact central core. Declared a city in 1994, it sits within Canelones Department and borders the Costa de Oro to the east.
