Japan Chofu City

Chōfu

Chofu City · Japan

Chōfu, on the western edge of Tokyo Metropolis, is known for the ancient temple Jindai-ji and its long-established soba noodles, a tradition recorded in Edo-period illustrated gazetteers. The Jinkei Botanical Garden, which occupies the former temple grounds, adjoins the site. Alongside these historic landmarks, the city retains stretches of Musashino woodland and traditional shrines, while sitting close enough to central Tokyo to function as a liveable urban base.
