Chiang Rai

Founded in 1262 by King Mangrai, Chiang Rai is Thailand's northernmost major city and a UNESCO Creative City of Design, set close to mountains in the far north of the country. The city has a well-developed café and restaurant scene and serves as a gateway to the wider Indochina region.
