Cavaillon
Vaucluse · France
Known across France as the capital of the melon, Cavaillon is a Provençal town in the Durance Valley at the western edge of the Luberon mountains. Its compact centre has a real café and restaurant scene, vineyards surround the town, and the Luberon range provides a scenic backdrop. The town was formerly an episcopal seat and part of the Comtat Venaissin from 1274 to 1791, leaving a layer of historic architecture alongside its market-town identity.
