Borovets
Bulgaria
Bulgaria's oldest mountain resort, Borovets sits on the slopes of the Rila range and serves as one of the main starting points for hiking to Musala, the highest peak on the Balkan Peninsula. Known historically as Chamkoria until 1942, it draws skiers in winter and hikers in summer, with a café and restaurant scene supported by substantial accommodation capacity across dozens of lodging options.
