Arévalo
Ávila · Spain
Arévalo, in Ávila province in Castile and León, sits on a tongue of land where the Adaja and Arevalillo rivers meet — a defensive position typical of medieval towns south of the Duero. Its old quarter is a protected cultural site holding a substantial concentration of Castilian Mudéjar architecture, sometimes called "brick Romanesque." The town is also known by the nickname "City of the Five Lineages" and serves as the capital of the La Moraña comarca.
