Agiasos
Λέσβος, Λήμνος · Greece
A village on the slopes of Mount Olympos in Lesbos with an unusual concentration of cafés, restaurants, and churches for its size, Agiasos is also a designated traditional settlement whose architecture has been formally recognised for its historic character. The Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos draws visitors from across the island each August for a major festival, with some making the journey on foot. The village's name itself derives from an icon brought from Jerusalem by a monk named Agathon.
