Zhetigen
Kazakhstan
Formerly known as Zhetigen, Alatau is a newly established town in Kazakhstan's Almaty Region, created by presidential decree in 2024 and being developed as Central Asia's first "digital city," with planned smart-city technology, crypto-economy infrastructure, and urban air mobility systems. It sits on the Turksib rail line north of Almaty, within sight of mountains and close to water, and forms part of one of the region's largest special economic zones.
