Ypati

Founded at the turn of the 5th and 4th centuries BC as the capital of the Aenianes, Ypati is a small village in Phthiotis, central Greece, carrying an outsized historical record for its size. It served as the chief city of Thessaly under Roman rule, became a metropolitan bishopric, and was capital of the Greek principality of Thessaly from 1268 to 1318 before passing to the Catalan Duchy of Neopatras until 1391. Several historic churches survive in the village, which sits close to the mountains of central Greece.
