Yichun

Heilongjiang Province · China

A forest city on the Songhua River in northern Heilongjiang, Yichun sits along a stretch of the Amur River that forms the border with Russia. Nicknamed Lindu — "forest capital" — it carries one of China's highest urban greening rates and was recognised by the United Nations in 2005 as a model for urban forest ecological protection and sustainable development. The surrounding landscape of the Lesser Khingan Mountains is defined by dense forest, with the Tangwang River running through the city.
