Windsor, a small Nova Scotia town on the water in West Hants, promotes itself as the birthplace of ice hockey and was home to Thomas Chandler Haliburton, Canada's first internationally best-selling author. The area carries a layered colonial history — central to Father Le Loutre's War and the 1755 Expulsion of the Acadians — alongside a tiny central core with cafés and restaurants and a concentration of historic churches for its size.
