Whitianga
New Zealand
A seaside town on Mercury Bay, on the east coast of New Zealand's Coromandel Peninsula, Whitianga sits on Buffalo Beach and has a café and restaurant scene that punches above its size. A deep-water harbour serves as the departure point for boat trips around the bay's coves and cliffs to Te Whanganui-A-Hei Marine Reserve, with its abundant marine life. Several other beaches lie within easy reach of the town centre.
